The Muir HR1600 Cougar is a heavy‑duty horizontal windlass designed for vessels between 10 and 14 metres (33–46 feet). Built with a brushed 316 stainless steel housing and polished stainless components, it delivers exceptional durability and long‑term reliability in harsh marine environments. The HR1600 uses a powerful 1200‑watt dual‑direction motor paired with a superior oil‑bath worm drive gearbox, providing smooth, consistent pulling power for demanding anchoring situations. It supports multiple global chain standards and offers simple rope and chain handling for both powerboats and sailboats.
This model includes a high‑tensile stainless steel shaft, gypsy lock and pawl, chain pipe and peeler, independent gypsy and capstan operation, and front double twin footings for secure deck mounting. The HR1600 is Auto Anchor compatible and includes a manual override (MORS) system for emergency operation. It is the 12‑volt stainless steel version of the Cougar series.
